The introductory programming course at the University of Auckland is called COMPSCI101. Each semester, their final assignment is to create an arcade game of some sorts. When Paul Denny is teaching, he'll turn the assignment into a competition, with prizes sponsored by Microsoft (When I was in the competition, we never got Microsoft prizes...).

Anyway, because, you know, I'm such a big geek and all, I made this game for fun, and Paul was kind enough to show it off in one of the lectures. This game is based on the Gamecube game of the same name. Click the title screen to start playing.
