Food Style? Seafood

Right in the city centre is this cosy and dimly lit restaurant with plenty of seafood and a hint of Italian influence, though the first thing to hit my mouth is a glass of sangria, because I just can't resist. I tried to be more accommodating of Theo because it seems the only thing for vegetarians to eat is either dumplings or salads. He can at least eat seafood, so this seems like a good compromise.

Mains

Salmon fillet sauteed in a white wine sauce with spinach leaves and jasmine/wild rice mix
My salmon looks damn impressive. That crispy skin, soft and smooth meat, and the white wine sauce is absolutely delicious. I wish there was more! It appears that the spinach has soaked most of it up, but by itself, the salmon is still very tasty. Again, for a landlocked country, their seafood is surprisingly good.

Most of the meals here are reasonably priced, but what shocked me was my sangria - €6.80!

Food Style? Austrian Pub

We've had a pretty chill afternoon and I've gotten my handy food finding tools out for this recommendation. Slightly outside of town and off the tourist track, Die Weisse has a massive outdoor seating area for enjoying the summer sun, but it's full of locals so we've opted to sit indoors.

I feel sorry for Theo because Austrian cuisine isn't very vegetarian friendly. Many of the local specialties are meat based - especially schnitzel and goulash.

Mains

Backhendl (deep fried chicken) with potato and cucumber salad
I ordered deep fried chicken but what I get is essentially chicken schnitzel except the meat hasn't been pounded flat. It's nice and crunchy, and tastes good, but like yesterday's schnitzel, it's a bit plain by itself and a sauce would have been nice. Today's potato salad is better though, it's slightly spiced and has nuts to give it some crunch. For €12.80, this is a generous serving of food, but still very ordinary.
